Big antique wedding cabinet with a large, round lock. A wedding cabinet was often the centrepiece of a Chinese bride’s dowry. The red colour was a symbol for good luck and the prosperity of the marriage.
The cabinet still has its original red lacquerwork and original hinges (late Qing dynasty). The metalwork of the round lock is new. Inside is a shelf with two drawers. The big round lock on the doors can be closed with a pin and consists of three parts: the middle part is attached to the shelf inside. Underneath the shelf there is space for an additional two shelves (not included)
