Pair of light weight, woven, antique wedding baskets in pastel blue and red colours. The top has woven handles which could be slid on a bamboo carrying pole.
These baskets (also called “Bakul Siah”) were made in South China and probably used for a wedding in a Peranakan or Chinese community in South East Asia. The bride’s family would stuff the baskets with snacks to bring to the groom’s family.
